The late Harry Boyle loved Maitland.
So much so that he spent his twilight years researching our city’s history – through the pages of the Mercury.
Each week he would travel to the Mitchell Library in Sydney and research articles from its early editions.
And, each Friday, the Mercury would publish his latest history tale for readers to enjoy.
Harry’s articles took us back in time to things that were familiar to some – but not all – and educated us on what life was once like in our city.
If he was alive today Harry would have many hundreds of stories to share in the latest Facebook craze that has swept the city.
Aberglasslyn man Aaron Golledge took to the internet last Monday to create a page titled – You Know You’re From Maitland When?
